Plant City Entertainment will reopen for live entertainment on Friday, July 16, after a year and a half of darkness and closure because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sister Act will be the first act to perform. Plant City Entertainment will offer a complimentary cocktail hour one hour before the curtain rises on opening night.

Sister Act is a musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by G. Salter, based on the 1992 popular film of the same name. Sister Act is based on Deloris Van Cartier, a young singer from Philadelphia. Cartier is held in protective custody in a dying convent after performing for her gangster boyfriend and witnessing a murder.

Her unique brand of funk comes face-to-face with the traditions of the church.

On Friday, July 16, 23, and 30, Saturday, July 17, 24, and 31, and Sunday, July 18, 25, and August 1, Sister Act will be performed. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m. Shows begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.
