TikToker bags Guinness World Record for largest mouth gape

Samantha Ramsdell, a TikToker, has set the Guinness World Record for the biggest mouth gape in a female. The 31-year-old from Connecticut, United States, has a mouth gape of 6.52 cm (2.56 inches).

Ramsdell’s large jaw helped catapult her to stardom, and she now has over 1 million followers on the TikTok social media site. She claimed to be able to fit an entire apple in her mouth and demonstrated the exceptionally large size of her mouth in many videos she posted online.

She went to her local dentist in South Norwalk later to have her gape measured. Dr. Elke Cheung used digital calipers to measure her gigantic mouth, which measured 2.56 inches from top to bottom lip. She was accompanied by a Guinness adjudicator.

Moreover, she encouraged that people with a large body part or something unique should pursue their dreams.

Growing up, she was often bullied by other kids calling her hurtful things like “big bass mouth” among other names, but she now describes her mouth as her “superpower”.

“You know getting a Guinness World Records title, it’s finally being almost able to show some of the bullies or people who doubted me, or tormented me, that hey – I have a big mouth but at least I have the biggest one in the world,” she said.

“Being 31 and being able to get a record for something that really I was so insecure about, something that I wanted to keep so small, it’s great because now it’s like one of the biggest, best things about me.”

Guinness World Records also compared everyday objects to her enormous gape, uncovering a range of party tricks she can perform with her mouth.

These include nearly fitting an entire green apple in her mouth, fully biting through four-single stacked cheeseburgers, and stuffing entire large-size chips in her mouth.

“Do it proud and make it your biggest asset. It’s your superpower, it is the thing that makes you special and different from everyone else walking around,” she added.

In addition, the TikToker has done duet videos with Isaac Johnson, the male who earned the record for his 4-inch gape.
