Coronavirus has claimed seventeen lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Health officials have uttered distress over the pervasive active cases, which could further spread the infection.

Coronavirus positivity in Peshawar and Abbottabad was logged 12 percent and 9.3 percent in the past 24 hours, stated officials.

The death toll consists of seven that belonged to Peshawar, three to Mardan, two each to Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan, and one each to Swabi, Swat, and Mardan, making the overall score of fatalities 4,696 since the beginning of the pandemic in KP.

A health department report said that the province recorded 702 new cases which made its total score of 153,836 of whom 142,134 including 755 recorded during the last 24 hours recovering from the contagious virus.

A total of 10,084 tests were conducted on alleged patients with overall positivity of six percent in the province.

On the contrary, Peshawar detected 257 new coronavirus cases, reaching its total number of patients 56,511.

The total number of deaths recorded 2,271 followed due to Covid-19 so far.

Mansehra reported 60 new cases, Swabi 51, Chitral Upper 50, Kohat 48, Chitral Lower 42, Mardan 39, Abbottabad 37, Dera Ismail Khan 35and Nowshera registered 22 new cases of the virus.

A total of 1,280 patients were admitted to the hospitals and 52 of them are on ventilators and in critical condition.

The province has still 350 unused ventilators in different hospitals.

Furthermore, the report stated that the overall case fatality rate (CFR) in the province was three percent.

However, the CFR was above four percent in Peshawar, Swat, Mardan, Abbottabad, and Dera Ismail Khan.

The number of Covid-19 patients on ventilators is growing.

The officials stated that the major districts that had been recording more deaths and positive cases are Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Mardan, and Swat.

National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has been asking the health department to take high care of the high-risk regions and safeguard devotion to follow the standard operating procedures (Sop’s) as well as upsurge the vaccination drive throughout the region.

Whereas, officials also mentioned that active cases in the province were widespread and could be the main reason for the spread of the virus to other people.
