Pakistan has made a formal complaint with the establishments in the United States to examine the attack on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in prison, stated the Foreign Office Spokesperson.
“We lodged a formal complaint with the relevant U.S. authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure the safety and well-being of Dr. Siddiqui,” said spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri.
“We learnt of an assault on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui by a fellow inmate at FMC Carswell on 30 July 2021,” claimed the FO spokesperson.
He said, “Our embassy in Washington DC, as well as our Consulate General in Houston, immediately took up the matter with the concerned U.S. authorities”.
Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was immediately visited by Pakistan’s Consul General in Houston to determine her well-being.
He further explained that she had received some slight injuries, but was overall doing fine.
The FO spokesperson said both the embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC and the Consulate General in Houston sustained to make all possible exertion to guarantee that Dr. Siddiqui was appropriately considered, during her imprisonment at FMC Carswell.
It is to be noticed that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is currently serving an 86-year sentence at a U.S. prison named Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas.
