ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Tuesday appointed Dr Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, a BS-21 officer of the Inland Revenue Service (IRS) as new chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Dr Ashfaq Ahmed is the sixth chairman of the revenue board during the current PTI government. He is the 31st chairman of the board.
The Establishment Division has notified the posting of Dr Ashfaq Ahmed as the new FBR chief.
He is currently posted as the Member Inland Revenue (Operations). Dr Ashfaq Ahmed is replacing Asim Ahmad, who was appointed on April 9, 2021 as the chairman.
The new FBFR chairman was recently included in a committee constituted by the United Nations on taxation matters.
