Enterprises play key role in economic development of country: minister
ISLAMABAD: Enterprises play a vital role in the economic development of every country and also serve as one of the major drivers of economic change, a senior government official said.
Chairing a meeting on Small and Medium Enterprises Policy, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Khusro Bakhtyar said that the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) growth would generate employment, alleviate poverty; thus, fostering development and achieving growth trajectory through positive spillovers on the other sections of the economy.
Industries and Production secretary along with senior officials of the ministry and Smeda attended the meeting.
The meeting deliberated upon all aspects of the new SME policy pertaining to the SME promotion and development in the country.
The minister directed to outline the draft of the new SME Policy to improve the regulatory environment, taxation, SME portal development in tandem with access to finance, skills and human resource, infrastructure development, entrepreneurship, innovation and incubation, business development services and local and international market opportunities for the SMEs.
He also directed to hold consultation meetings with stakeholders to fast-track the process of the new SME policy.
