Germans eager to invest in Punjab

LAHORE: German Ambassador Bernhard Schlagheck has said that the German investors would make full use of investment-friendly opportunities in Punjab, as many companies had already made investments and more are eager to start businesses here.

He said this after calling on Punjab minister for industries and trade Mian Aslam Iqbal at the office of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) on Tuesday and discussed matters of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation and investment opportunities. First Secretary of the Economic and Political Section of German Embassy Christian Bottcher and PBIT chief operating officer Jalal Hassan were also present.

The minister said that Pakistan and Germany enjoyed good friendly relations. He said that the Punjab government longed to take advantage of German technologies. Punjab has set up four new technical universities, he said, adding that the state-of-the-art skill technology park would be established in Lahore. He said that there was a scope of enhanced cooperation between Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) and German technical institutions. He said that the PBIT was providing best facilities to local and foreign investors. He promised to extend full support to German companies, while intending to invest in Punjab. He said that the Punjab government would participate in the Dubai Expo.
