Pakistan’s shooters GM Bashir and Khalil Akhter were eliminated from the Olympics race to medal stages after they could not remain in the top six in qualifiers.

GM Bashir was performing well in the first stage of the qualifier as he cleared it with the 6th position, with a total score of 293 on Sunday.

Despite his good performance on Monday morning, he slipped from 6th to 10th position at the end of the two-stage qualifier.

With securing 286 points in the second stage, his total points were 579 in the qualifying stage.

At the beginning of the second stage, GM Bashir started off well with 99 points on the first two series of five shots each in eight seconds. That allowed him to move up one position once.

Akhtar, who was 16th at the end of the first stage, improved his position by one place, but it wasn’t enough. In stage two, he finished with 572 points after scoring 97, 94, and 95 in the respective series.

Clement Bessaguet, a Frenchman, was also eliminated from the race to the medal stage. He was in first place at the end of stage 1, but he struggled on Monday.
