Hyderabad Garrison hosts events to celebrate Independence Day

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Garrison, on the eve of the 75th Independence Day, organised several events and activities to celebrate the day with great zeal and fervor, a statement said on Saturday.

Some unique and eventful activities were organised in the Hyderabad Garrison, mainly spearheaded by its commander and assisted by station commander, it added.

These activities included decorations of major roads in and ty with the Cantonment, allowing people to enjoy these on the green belts with families.

It also repaired major roads for convenience of entire city in Cantonment Board jurisdiction. Likewise, a massive plantation drive in which 2,000 saplings were planted on the special directives of General Dilawar and executed by the Station Headquarters, involving all segments of the society, civil administration, Rangers, army, large civil community, local residents of Hyderabad and schoolchildren, which was in line with the overall Clean and Green Pakistan drive steered at the national level.

At midnight, a special fireworks was arranged by the GOC to make the event memorable.

Similarly, all public buildings, including gymkhana, State Bank office and entry and exit points of Cantt, major roundabouts such as Qasim and Pakistan Chowk were beautifully illuminated by the Cantt Board, it added,
