Karachi man admits to raping, killing six-year-old
KARACHI: In Karachi, the main suspect in the rape and murder of a minor girl in the port city’s Korangi area, has confessed to the crime.
“I abducted the girl (six-year-old) on July 27 and killed her later out of fear,” the suspect, Zakir aka Antola, stated on Wednesday when he was presented before a judicial magistrate.
The suspect further claimed that after raping and murdering the girl, he dumped her body at a garbage dump. The magistrate placed Zakir on judicial remand after he confessed.
The girl’s body was discovered wrapped in a thick mat around 6 a.m. last Wednesday. The girl’s post-mortem revealed she had been raped and her neck had snapped, according to investigators.
Zakir, who claimed to be intoxicated at the time of the incident, told police that he put the girl in a rickshaw about 11:30 p.m. and drove her for an hour.
He said he brought the girl to the Sunday bazaar grounds in Korangi at approximately 12:30 a.m. According to the statement, the woman was still alive and semi-conscious after he assaulted her.
She “suddenly jumped and broke her neck”, he told police.
The suspect confessed that had he thrown the girl in a garbage dump, after which he went home and told his wife that he had been busy with a ride.
