KARACHI: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) has congratulated Prime Minister Imran Khan on completing three years of his government, a statement said on Friday.

Kati patron-in-chief S M Muneer said that the prime minister had informed in his speech that the foreign exchange reserves had crossed $27 billion-mark for the first time, IT exports exceeded $2 billion, proving that timely steps taken by the premier and his team to revive the economy are yielding results.

Despite the global economic crisis after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the achievements of the government were commendable and the same government initiatives were appreciated at the international level, which is a matter of pride for the country.

Muneer said that after a long time, Pakistan has got a leader whose vision is to make Pakistan a developed country, to serve the people, and to be loyal to the country and the nation, which is why the people have expressed full confidence in him.

He expressed the hope that the government would be able to take the country on the path of development by solving the problems of the industry with a better strategy just as it had rescued the country from the economic crisis.

Kati president Saleem-uz-Zaman said: “All the indicators of the economy are encouraging, but, at the same time, we are facing several challenges, including the region’s highest production cost, instability in the value of the dollar, rising prices of electricity, gas, and petroleum products.”

The prices and the current rate of inflation in the country are creating problems for the people and the industry, he added.

The government should take immediate steps to reduce inflation and the cost of production so that positive economic indicators do not prove to be temporary but continue in the future too, he said.
