Marina Iqbal: Resigns from the post of selector Pakistan Women Cricket

Pakistan women cricket team selector, Marina Iqbal has resigned from her post as she wishes to surpass in the world of cricket commentary and broadcasting.

As per the detail of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Marina has stepped down from her post so that she could concentrate on cricket broadcasting even more. The selection committee was appointed in 2019, where Urooj Mumtaz was the head, Marina and Asmavia Iqbal under her.

Marina Iqbal said, “It has been an honor to serve as a member of the national women’s selection committee which provided another great learning opportunity to me.”

She added, “I have made this decision to give more time to cricket commentary following my induction in the ICC future leaders program.”

She concluded, “I felt that in my current role as a national selector, it was difficult to carry out the two roles simultaneously,”

Marina played for almost 6 years, after making her cricket debut in 2009. She played 36 ODIs and 42 T20Is, where she scored 436 and 340 runs respectively.

After playing her final ODI against New Zealand in 2017, she shifted to the commentary world. She made her commentary debut in Pakistan-Australia women’s cricket series in Malaysia. Many prominent names including former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez her decision to shift to the commentary box.

Earlier, a sports reporter targeted her for wearing heels on the pitch. The reported shared two pictures of Marina and questioned her decision to roam around the wicket in heels. On which she replied that I am a former Pakistan player and I know the protocols.
