Murderer of Asma Rani to be pardoned outside court
A settlement outside the courtroom is expected in the murder case of medical student Asma Rani, who was shot dead by a man in Kohat after she rejected his marriage proposal.
Several customary jirgas have taken place in Kohat and Lakki Marwat to resolve the case out-of-court.
The parties to the case are going to reach the settlement through blood money (diyat).
No sanctioned statement has been made about the probable contract.
However, Marwat Qaumi Jirga has repudiated any role in the settlement of the murder case.
A district and sessions court on June 25 had given death sentence to main blamed Mujahidullah Afridi in the Asma Rani murder case.
The court cleared two accused Siddiqullah and Shahzeb for want of evidence.
Whereas, Asma Rani, a third-year student at Ayub Medical College, was shot dead in January 2018 at her hometown in Kohat after she purportedly precluded the marriage proposal of accused Afridi.
After the murder, he had escaped to Dubai ensuing which his name was positioned in Interpol’s most wanted people’s list.
Furthermore, he was detained in Dubai and transported back to the country in March 2018.
