New poll shows half of the US workers support mandatory COVID vaccines
According to a new poll, half of the US workers support workplace vaccination requirements.
It comes at a time when such mandates are gaining steam in the US, following the full approval of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine by the federal government.
According to a poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, around 59% of remote workers support vaccination requirements in their own workplaces, as compared to 47% of those who work in person. Around a quarter of employees, both in person and remote, are opposed.
The stance is same for workplace mask mandates, with 50% of in-person workers in favour and 29% opposed, while 59 percent of remote workers are in favour.
About 6 in 10 college graduates, who are more likely to have jobs that can be done remotely, support both mask and vaccine mandates at their workplaces, compared with about 4 in 10 workers without college degrees.
Vaccine requirements have come from private organizations with employees who have been able to work from home during the outbreak of COVID 19.
The organizations, which include major software firms and investment banks, have largely vaccinated workforces and review the requirement as a necessary step toward reopening workplaces.
Goldman Sachs followed that trend on Tuesday, informing staff in a message that beginning September 7, everyone entering in offices of the US must be fully vaccinated.
