As New Zealand comes to the end of day 11 of lockdown, 82 new COVID 19  community cases were recorded.

The total number of COVID 19 cases in the community outbreak now stands at 429.

In Auckland, there are now 415 community cases, whereas in Wellington, there are 14.

All of the cases have been or are being safely moved to a quarantine facility, under strict infection prevention and control procedures, including the use of complete PPE.

Twenty-five of the existing community cases are in hospitals, with 23 in a good condition on a ward and two in stable ICU conditions.

In New Zealand, there are now 429 active cases of COVID 19.

There is one new case in a recent returnee in a managed isolation facility.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has declared a level four lockdown that will last until at least 11.59 p.m. on Friday.

In the midst of a fast-moving Delta outbreak, the country recorded 35 new COVID-19 cases today.

The lockdown extension will extend the original duration by four days.

The lockdown in Auckland, the epicenter of the outbreak, has been extended until at least 11.59 p.m. on August 31.

“The safest option right now is to hold this course for longer,” Ms Ardern said.

According to the Ministry of Health, Auckland is linked to the great majority of new infections. Only two of the 35 cases are in Wellington.

The new cases bring the total number of cases in the current community outbreak to 107.
