NTDC to align training center with international standards

LAHORE: The National Transmission and Dispatch Company’s (NTDC) Technical Services Group Training Centre will be aligned with the international standards of training practices in the power sector, an official said.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the Technical Refresher Course-2 conducted for the engineers of (BPS 18 to BPS 19) at the TSG Training Centre New Kot Lakhpat, Lahore, NTDC managing director Engr Muhammad Ayub said that the curriculum of the technical training courses should be equipped with innovation and hybrid technology to meet the forthcoming challenges in the power sector, particularly in NTDC.

The NTDC will establish its research and development (R&D) section along with a think-tank, comprising seasoned power sector experts and engineers, he said.

Ayub also planted a tree at the training centre under the NTDC’s ongoing tree plantation campaign in line with the prime minister’s “Clean and Green Pakistan” campaign.

During the ceremony, the NTDC official was apprised that since October 2018, the Technical Services Group (TSG) Training Centre had conducted four sessions of technical refresher courses from BPS 18 to BPS 19 and the fifth session is in progress.

A total of 11 sessions of the Mandatory (Pre-Promotion) Refresher Courses have been conducted successfully and the 12th session is in process.

After completion of the current session, 298 participants will be trained by the TSG Training Centre and it would earn a revenue of approximately Rs73 million.

Moreover, so far 22 sessions of official staff, including grid operation, grid maintenance, transmission lines and protection and instrumentation have also been conducted from June 2020 to-date, including six ongoing sessions.

A total of 408 candidates have been trained during this period, which generated Rs55.75 million revenue.
