Pakistan receives $1.091 billion as foreign investment in July

KARACHI: The total inflows of foreign investment in Pakistan stood at $1.091 billion in the first month of the current fiscal year.

According to statistics released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the inflows were mainly investment in the debt securities. The net inflows in July 2020 was a meager $2.4 million.

The country received $1.002 billion as debt securities in July 2021 under the head of foreign public investment, compared with the outflows of $53 million during the same month of the last fiscal year.

The foreign private investment registered a growth of 60 per cent to $89 million in July 2021, compared with $55.5 million during the same month of the last fiscal year.

The foreign direct investment (FDI) posted a decline of 30.10 per cent during the month under review. The FDI was at $90 million in July 2021, compared with $128.70 million received during the same month of the last fiscal year.

The portfolio investment registered a decline in the outflows during the period. The outflows from the stock market was $1.1 million in July 2021, compared with the outflows of $73.2 million.
