KARACHI: Prime Minister Imran Khan’s day-long visit to Karachi came into the spotlight again with provincial minister Nasir Hussain Shah complaining that the premier’s trip schedule was not shared with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

According to Nasir, the CM kept waiting but the official itinerary of PM’s visit to metropolis was never shared with him.

“The chief minister was also not invited to the meeting held for the uplift and improvement of Karachi,” said Nasir while adding that other stakeholders were also not made part of the PM meeting.

Taking a jibe at the provincial leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Nasir Shah said seriousness of the ruling party and the premier himself can be judged by their actions.

“All we want is the federal government to fulfill their promises to the city,” he said adding that it did not matter whether PPP was taken on board or not.

This was not the first time the chief minister was not informed of the premier’s visit. In the past, too, Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the city on a number of occasions without scheduling a meeting with the provincial government or taking them on board.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, during his visit, inaugurated the Shiplift and Transfer System and said that with this system Pakistan will be able to generate foreign exchange.

Meanwhile, Governor Sindh and provincial leadership received the prime minister at the airport.

Addressing the ceremony, the premier said that he was glad that Pakistan was advancing in the field of technology. “Pakistan is on the right track, the current account deficit has been minimised, now our goal is to bring in investment, stop money laundering and produce what we import in our country,” he said.

The PM will also announce the planting of mangroves on an additional 12,000 acres in Lasbela. Later, the PM left for Balochistan where he was to be given an aerial view of mangroves in Lasbela. Special Assistant Malik Amin Aslam accompanied the prime minister on the occasion.
