With his goal in Liverpool’s victory against Norwich City on Saturday, Muhammad Salah set a Premier League Record.

He was not only praised by Liverpool’s manager Juergen Klopp but he was also credited for his selfishness.

“When you know about that (record) and you set up the first two goals, which is really cool, and after he scored he tried to find Sadio (Mane) twice with a pass, so that was really, really good,” said Klopp. “But Mo is Mo and when the competition starts, he goes into the next gear because he’s a proper competitive boy. It’s good to have him.”

After assisting Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino in the 3-0 victory, Salah scored to become the first player to score in five consecutive opening weekend fixtures.

Salah’s 74th-minute goal broke Teddy Sheringham’s record of four Matchweek 1 goals, which he shared between 1992/93 and 1995/96.

Liverpool is also close to setting a record for total goals scored in the opening match of the season.

With his strike at Carrow Road, Salah moves to within one goal of the record held jointly by Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard, and Wayne Rooney.

These three football legends scored eight goals on the opening weekend of the season, and they might soon be joined by Jamie Vardy.

The Leicester City striker’s only goal of the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers earned him his seventh opening weekend goal in 10 seasons.
