Prime Minister Imran khan witnesses electronic voting machines

Shibli Faraz, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology, and officials from his ministry briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan on the functioning of the electronic voting machines (EVM).

The EVMs do not require internet access, according to Shibli Faraz, because the software utilized in the machines is of international standard. Most importantly, he shared that no vote will go to waste or be canceled because the machine completely eliminates the process of manually stamping a vote.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was there at the event and saw a comprehensive demonstration of the EVM before casting his vote. Shibli Faraz and his group were also thanked by the premier for developing such EVMs.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had stated earlier in the month of June that the current government is committed to ensuring transparency in the country’s voting process.

He was in Islamabad, chairing a meeting. Prime Minister Imran Khan has issued directions aimed at making the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections more transparent and compliant with all legal criteria.

The premier also directed that electoral reforms, electronic voting, and voting rights for Pakistanis living abroad be implemented as soon as possible.
