Punjab governor to convene Overseas Pakistani Convention soon
LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that the Overseas Pakistani Convention will be convened soon to woo foreign investors, including expatriate Pakistani businessmen to invest in the country, a statement issued by the Governor House said.
The overseas Pakistani convention will be held at the Governor House and Prime Minister Imran Khan has been duly briefed on this.
Earlier, Sarwar called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and informed him of his visit to the United States and reforms in the universities across the province.
Prime Minister Khan appreciated the efforts of the Punjab governor for launching more than 1,500 new projects under the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority for the provision of clean drinking water to the people.
Later, Punjab Governor Sarwar, who is also the patron-in-chief of Aab-e-Pak Authority, briefed the prime minister about the provision of clean drinking water to more than eight million people from around 1,500 projects and schemes of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority throughout the province, including Lahore.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Law Minister Raja Muhammad Basharat, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Gill, Minister of State for Information Farrukh Habib, Aab-e-Pak Authority chairman Dr Shakeel Ahmed and Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority board member Rabia Zia were also present during the meeting.
The Punjab governor also congratulated the prime minister on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) victory in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Prime Minister Khan appreciated the projects of the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority and the steps taken by the Punjab governor to resolve the problems of overseas Pakistanis.
Later, Sarwar said that all the departments concerned, including federal and provincial government, are on the same page for the provision of clean drinking water to the people of the province.
He also said a similar number of people, who have benefitted from the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority, will be provided clean drinking water through various plants to be installed by the non-governmental organisations.
