Former Pakistan batsman Salman Butt suggested Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) host Pakistan-Afghanistan one-day international (ODI) series in Quetta as its staging remains in doubt.

Salman tweeted, in which he suggested that PCB and ACB should build consensus and should host the series in Quetta.

He wrote, “Just wondering why don’t @TheRealPCB and @ACBofficials play the 3 matches in Quetta. Beautiful stadium. The best pitch in Pakistan and weather also wonderful,”

The Pakistan-Afghanistan ODI series is in doubt as Sri Lanka, the host country executed a countrywide lockdown last week, due to the intense pressure from medical authorities.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has resisted calls for a lockdown for weeks, approved the 10-day closure after dire cautions that hospitals could no longer cope with the arrival of COVID-19 patients.

According to the sources, on Saturday the final verdict over the series would be taken tomorrow, but the probabilities of it taking place are bleak.

As per the sources, PCB has offered to host the series in Pakistan, but ACB has disapproved the proposal, after which it was decided that ACB would host the series in Sri Lanka.

PCB has already overdue the ODI squad announcement as ACB was unable to announce the schedule and travel plan for the series.

The spokesperson told that PCB has planned to start the training camp for the ODI series from 21st August – 28th August, but ACB has failed to do its job so far, because of which PCB holds the squad announcement and training camp.
