LONDON: The UK government has decided to move United Arab Emirate (UAE) from the red to the amber list with effect from Sunday, August 8, 2021 after reviewing progress in the international travel system amid Covid-19 outbreak, WAM reported.
Under the move announced on Thursday, all those who visit these countries will no longer have to book a quarantine hotel package for when they return to England. Other countries that also moved to the amber list from the red are Bahrain, India and Qata, according to a statement issued by the UK government.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps quoted as saying, “We are committed to opening up international travel safely, taking advantage of the gains we’ve made through our successful vaccination programme, helping connect families, friends and businesses around the world. “While we must continue to be cautious, today’s changes reopen a range of different holiday destinations across the globe, which is good news for both the sector and travelling public,” he added.
