According to a statement, Pakistan’s Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed took notice of a frenzied crowd attacking a Hindu temple in Bhong village in Punjab’s Rahim Yar Khan district on Thursday.

On Wednesday, a video of a crowd destroying a mandir went viral on social media. According to social media reports, the incident happened in Rahim Yar Khan‘s village Bhong.

Hundreds of people armed with sticks can be seen inside the temple chanting slogans and smashing items to bits in the footage. The attackers broke the windows and chanted Allah-o-Akbar as they vandalized the temple. The culprits of the incident have been compelled to face consequences.

According to police, a seminary or madrassa lecturer filed a complaint around 10 days ago alleging that a young non-Muslim boy entered the seminary and ruined it. The boy was detained when the police filed a report. However, he was released on bail a few days later.

However, after he was released, a crowd protested by closing down the city and blocking the M5 highway. The police attempted but failed to negotiate with the demonstrators. It was after this that the protestors attacked the temple.
