Afghanistan to tour Australia to play their first Test in Australia

Afghanistan first Test cricket approved by Taliban since their takeover and increased hopes that international matches will carry on as usual under new Taliban rule.

Chief executive of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Hamid Shinwari said, “We have got approval to send the team to Australia,”

The Afghan team will travel to Australia to play their Test match in Hobart from 27th November to 1st December, the series was scheduled for last year but was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic and international travel restrictions.

It will be Afghanistan’s first Test in Australia.

Before touring Australia, the Afghanistan team will play the Twenty20 World Cup that will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 17th October 17 to 15th November.

Hamid also confirmed that Afghanistan’s Under-19 cricket team will visit Bangladesh for a series later this month.

ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan is suspended until 2022. However, ACB officials told that cricket was supported by the Taliban.
