Asian Youth Games 2021 has been postponed due to rising Coronavirus cases globally, announced by the Chinese Olympics Committee.

As per the details, the Asian Youth Games were scheduled from 20th to 28th November, which will now take place from 20th to 28th December in 2022.

This decision was taken for the betterment of players, officials, and management.

Olympic Council of Asia wrote a letter to its affiliated NOCs which wrote, “In view of the current situation . . . , we would like to inform you that the Olympic Council of Asia, the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games Organizing Committee (SAYGOC) have made a joint decision to reschedule the 3rd Asian Youth Games, which were planned for 20-28 November 2021, to the new dates of 20-28 December 2022,”

“The postponed Games will keep its original name ‘Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games’ and the Marks remain unchanged,”

“The decision was made after an in-depth discussions between the three parties to serve the common interests of all related National Olympic Committees and ensuring the safety and health of the athletes.”

It must be noted here that COVID-19 has affected sports since its inception in 2020 across the world.
