Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza on Wednesday received a detailed briefing on the “Shamsheer-e-Bahr-VIII” war games at the Pakistan Naval Ship Base Jauhar in Karachi, said the Inter-Services Public Relations.

The military’s media wing said that Gen Raza was invited as the chief guest to the games where he was given a detailed briefing on the aim and objectives of the exercise.

“This exercise was aimed at tri-sevices operational drills and maneuvers against traditional and non-traditional threats with emphasis on improving synergy and jointness in operations at sea in a diverse maritime environment,” said the ISPR.

In his address, the CJCSC highlighted the importance of war games as it helps review the military strategy and refine its alignment with national security threats while exploring new concepts.

“The exercise will promote coordination and greater interoperability amongst all services, thus offsetting any physical threat to territorial integrity,” said Gen Raza. He also lauded the participants and appreciated the Pakistan Navy for its efforts in conducting the successful exercise in a befitting manner.

Earlier, upon arrival Chairman JCSC was received by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi.
