Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Jawed Bajwa on Wednesday met with the National Olympians who represented Pakistan in the Tokyo Olympic 2020, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.
In the meeting, the COAS met with the National Olympian Arshad Nadeem who represented Pakistan in the javelin throw competition, Talha Talib who represented the country in a weightlifting competition.
He also met with the Olympians who represented the country in shooting competition; Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, Khalil Ahmed, and Gulfam Joseph.
The IPSR further added that the athletes thanked the COAS for interacting with them and recognizing their abilities.
General Bajwa appreciated the athletes for their efforts and said that they had inspired the nation, especially the youths.
“Army has always supported sports,” General Bajwa said, adding that the players have brought honor for themselves by representing Pakistan at such a level.
Gen Bajawa also said that the country is proud of them and they had bought pride in Pakistan.
The COAS also assured that Pakistan Army will offer full support to the athletes in the future.
