Recently, the social media leader, Facebook landed itself in hot waters after it referred to the Black people as ‘primates’.

The social media giant, instantly came to its defense after disabling its topic recommendation feature right after a huge blunder occurred from its end. The Facebook recommendation feature mistook black men as primates on the social platform, which caused a stir among the social media users.

“We apologize to anyone who may have seen these offensive recommendations,” apologized a company spokesperson.

“We disabled the entire topic recommendation feature as soon as we realized this was happening so we could investigate the cause and prevent this from happening again.” he added.

The disastrous mistake happened when Facebook users in recent days watched a British tabloid clip featuring Black people; soon after the video ended, an autogenerated recommendation feature popped up asking if viewers would like to “keep seeing videos about Primates”.
