Ford Motors to shut down local production plants in India
Ford Motors Co. became the latest automaker company to shut down its local production facilities in India. They will stop making cars, two sources told Reuters.
Ford made this difficult decision after it noticed that the company has not been in profit in the country recently, said one of the sources. The process will take at least one year, said the sources.
However, according to the second source, the US automaker will still sell some of its cars in the South Asian country through imports. It further added that the company will provide support to the dealers to service existing customers.
The US automaker was been emailed for the comments on the closure of its business in India. However, the company did not reply to it immediately.
