Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is essentially a stand-alone story but its end has major implications for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) confronts his estranged father, Wenwu (Tony Leung), and receives the powerful weapon known as the Ten Rings in Marvel’s latest film, which is the first theatrical-only release of the MCU’s phase 4 in many aspects. Shang-Chi, on the other hand, finds himself dragged into the bigger MCU towards the end of the film, and he meets up with a few well-known heroes.

The reason why Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are connected to the marvel universe is Shang-Chi, meet the Avengers! The film ends with everyone’s favorite sorcerer-turned-part-time-cage-fighter, Wong (Benedict Wong), arriving in San Francisco to meet up with Shang-Chi and Katy (Awkwafina). In the first scene, dropping about midway through the credits, we see Wong launching a holographic Zoom and introducing the pair to two Avengers: Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Together, they examine the Ten Rings together and discover that they are not only extremely old, but far older than even Wenwu had suspected but they’re also sending out a mysterious beacon.

It remains unclear what the history of rings is , but the emphasis on their age appears to be a direct hint to Marvel’s next feature film Eternals.
