The Inter Services Public Relations announced a major shake-up in the top military brass of the Pakistan Army after unveiling new appointments and postings on Tuesday.

A press release issued by the military’s media wing said that Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza  has been posted as the commander of the Rawalpindi Corps. Before the transfer, he was serving as the chief of general staff.

Lt Gen Mirza’s predecessor Lt Gen Azhar Abbas, who was holding the post of commander Rawalpindi corps since 2019, has been appointed as the chief of general staff.

On the other hand, Lt Gen Mohammad Chiragh Haider has been given the command of the Multan Corps.

His predecessor Lieutenant General Muhammad Waseem Ashraf will now move to the Joint Staff Headquarters as the new director general of joint staff. The post was previously occupied by Lt Gen Haider.
