PMD predicts light rain in Karachi

Karachi is expected to receive light rain tonight stated the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

According to the statement issued by the PMD, low pressure from the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh is moving towards the West and entering Pakistan.

Whereas, due to the low pressure, thundershowers are expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Jamshoro from tonight to September 11.

Rains with thunderstorms are anticipated in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, and Shikarpur.

The PMD has also forecast heavy rains in various areas of Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Badin, and Thatta.

The Met department had predicted rains joined with winds and thunderstorms in Karachi from September 9.

Another low-pressure weather system has been established in the Bay of Bengal, stated PMD Karachi Director Sardar Sarfraz.

“The rain-bearing system is moving towards the west and it could cause rains in Karachi and other parts of Sindh between Thursday and Friday,” the official had said.

The National Disaster Management Authority had delivered a weather alert in view of the predictable heavy rains in the country.

On the contrary, Karachi had previously received thundershowers that had directly flooded the streets.

Due to the heavy rains, vehicles had lined up on the city’s main highways, causing citizens great inconvenience.

Furthermore, the most rain was recorded in Surjani Town, at 18 millimeters, followed by 10.6mm in Orangi Town, and 10mm at PAF Base Masroor.

The lowest amount of rain, at 5.2mm, was reported in Nazimabad.
