CAIRO — Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi appointed on Wednesday Lieutenant General Osama Askar as the new chief-of-staff of the Armed Forces, replacing Lieutenant General Mohamed Farid, the presidency office said in a statement.
“The president appointed Farid as a presidential adviser for the country’s Decent Life initiative,” Bassam Rady, spokesperson of the presidency added.
Askar was appointed in late 2019 as the Chief Operations of the Egyptian Armed Forces. He was an assistant secretary for Minister of Defense in 2017.
