LAHORE: The government should take the business community into confidence before devising trade and investment-related policies, an official said on Saturday.

Talking to delegations of the All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) and Anarkali Traders Association, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) president Mian Nauman Kabir stressed the need for devising policies after due consultation with the stakeholders.

Kabir urged the government to take practical measures for resolving genuine issues of the business community.

Ateeq suggested to bring reforms in the taxation system after taking all stakeholders onboard, adding that double taxation system was hampering the trade and economic activities in the country.

He said the LCCI would continue to promote paper and paperboard sector and urged the government to allocate sufficient funds for improvement in the infrastructure at major markets.
