Kumail Nanjiani stepped out at the Eternals movie premiere in Los Angeles on October 18th wearing a full traditional purple Sherwani overlaid with gold paisley patterns, custom made by the Pakistani designer Umar Sayeed.

Being the first Pakistani to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an incredibly big feat. He is also famously known for his role in HBO’s Silicon Valley, and for writing and starring in the movie, The Big Sick, which was nominated for an Oscar under Best Original Screenplay.

The 43 year old actor and comedian walked the premiere’s runway in regal Pakistani attire, looking absolutely elegant in his Sherwani paired with matching purple pants and black Christian Louboutin dress shoes. The actor had apparently asked for his mother’s help to find a Pakistani based designer for this look.

Kumail spoke regarding his fashion choice, stating that his costume in the film reminded him of Sherwanis. “I wanted the colors to be similar to my costume colors, and purple and gold are a beautiful combination. The paisley pattern is very traditional as well,” Nanjiani further added.

His stylist Jeanne Yang, who had been in consultation with Umar Sayeed, spoke appreciatively on the matter: “They hand-beaded this beautiful paisley pattern in the front and they did this beautiful pattern on the back with gold thread. They made it to his exact measurements.”

The actor was accompanied by his wife, Emily V. Gordon, who wore an exquisite full length white and black dress paired with dazzling diamond earrings.

Safe to say, this has won all our hearts as the actor walked one of the biggest premiere runways of this year flaunting his Pakistani pride and donning a Pakistani designer.
