Cricket Australia has announced the final ICC T20 World Cup squad 2021. Aron Finch, who had a knee injury, along with Steve Smith, who had an elbow injury, are now back in the squad with Finch leading the team.
Some of the other big stars including David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Pat Cummins, and Kane Richardson are also back in the playing squad after their absence in the tours to West Indies and Bangladesh.
The most surprising name on the squad list is Josh Inglish. He is a wicketkeeper-batsman and can play well as an opener and middle-order batsman.
“Josh has been on our radar for some time with his performances in white-ball cricket and more recently in the Vitality Blast where he topped the run charts,” George Bailey, chair of selectors, said.
“He offers the squad flexibility in the batting order with his adaptability, counterattacking ability, and power striking. He is a player we are excited about for the future.”
Australia will start the tournament with its first match against South Africa on October 23 at Abu Dhabi.
Australia is in Group 1 of the Super12 with England South Africa, runner-up of Group A, and winner of Group B of the qualifying stages.
