KARACHI: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Thursday discovered gas deposits in Kohlu district, Balochistan, an official of the company said.
OGDCL has made the discovery over the Mughlkot Formation from its exploratory efforts at Jandran West X-1 well located in Kohlu, Balochistan. It is the operator of Jandran West Exploration license with 100 per cent working interest.
The Jandran West X-1 well was spudded-in on May 19, 2021 as an exploratory well and drilled down to the total depth of 1,627 metres into Parh Formation. The company performed the Drill Stem Test (DST) in Mughlkot formation after the data showed good gas during the drilling.
The official said the well flowed at the rate of 2.391million standard cubic feet/day (mmscfd) with traces of condensate at Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 450 pounds/square inch (PSI) at 32/64” choke size.
OGDCL with an aggressive business development strategy provides an enabling environment for foreign participation (either as a joint venture partner or on a stand-alone basis).
The company is also aiming at fast-track development of its current and future projects at an aggressive pace without compromising on the quality and transparency.
