One policeman martyred, 17 injured in Quetta blast

At least one policeman was martyred while 17 others were injured in a blast in Quetta, confirmed provincial government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani.

Shahwani tweeted that the explosion targeted a police van performing its duties outside the varsity. He added that the explosive material was put in a bike parked near the van.

The spokesperson said that at least seven policemen and four bystanders were also injured in the blast. He also assured everyone that the perpetrators behind the attack will be brought to justice.

Separately, Balochistan Home Minister Zia Langove said that the attackers wanted to target the students protesting outside the varsity. He added that miscreants wanted to target the students to spread anarchy.

Following the blast, the security forces cordoned off the area and an emergency was imposed in the civil hospital Quetta.
