KARACHI: Veteran Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi blamed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for publicising issues that were not to be made public and sought details of gifts received by the Toshakhana during its three-year rule.

Commenting over the appointment of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director-General (DG) while addressing media in Karachi, Abbasi said, “It was an administrative matter, and the matter was never made public before.”

On the other hand, the PML-N leader noted that the matter of Toshakhana was of public matter, but the government had not yet revealed information about the gifts received by it under the PTI rule.

“The government says that friendly relationships will be spoiled (if it spoke) on the matter of Toshakhana,” said Abbasi, adding that the government could not, so far, tell that what gifts it had received, despite a constant push by the opposition for months.

Talking about the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Ordinance, the PML-N leader said that the ordinance was aimed at giving an extension to the chairman NAB.

Reiterating that his party would not seek any relief under the NAB Ordinance, he said, “The purpose of the ordinance is to usurp the power to appoint judges.”

“The NAB law is beyond anyone’s understanding. It is based on bad intentions. Even the judges are worried that where should they send the cases.”

Abbasi also slammed the government for not giving any relief to the masses against the rising tide of inflation.

According to him, the troubles of the nation multiplied under the PTI rule. “The value of rupee depreciated by 15 per cent during the last four months,” Abbasi recalled.
