KARACHI: Administrator Karachi met the officials of Pakistan’s banking sector and several leading corporations to seek their support towards his initiative of launching infrastructure and beautification projects in the city, a statement said on Wednesday.

Pakistan Banks’ Association (PBA) chairman Muhammad Aurangzeb gave assurance to support this initiative from the banking sector.

Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab, in the meeting held at Meezan Bank’s Head Office, gave a detailed presentation on the latest projects, either completed or in pipeline, by the Sindh government to improve the city’s infrastructure.

He also spoke about infrastructure and beautification projects such as parks, underpasses and bridges in the city that the banks and the private sector organisations can adopt and independently maintain.

He elaborated the importance of public-private partnership and invited the meeting participants to play their role in the city’s beautification and infrastructure improvement by adopting projects of their choice under their CSR initiatives.

Meezan Bank president and chief executive officer Irfan Siddiqui presented the vote of thanks to the chief guest and all the presidents and CEOs for their participation in the event.

The event was attended by presidents and CEOs of National Bank of Pakistan Arif Usmani; Yousaf Hussain of Faysal Bank; Syed Amir Ali of Bank Islami; Imran Samad of Sindh Bank; Irfan Siddiqui of Meezan Bank and Ali H Shirazi of Atlas Battery.

The CEOs of Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan), Rehan Shaikh; Dubai Islamic Bank (Pakistan) Junaid Ahmed; Al Meezan Investment Management Limited Mohammad Shoaib; along with Meezan Bank deputy chief executive officer Ariful Islam; Arif Habib Group chairman Arif Habib; Matco Foods executive director Faizan Ali Ghori; and Abdul Rahim of Siddiqsons Group, were also present on the occasion.
