KARACHI: A group of lawyers on Monday allegedly assaulted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Laila Parveen and her brother within the premises of Malir Court in Karachi.
In a statement, Laila Parveen said her brother had filed a case against her former husband advocate Ali Hasnain Sargona over a canceled cheque of Rs6.5 million.
“We came for the case hearing today. My former husband’s lawyer friends attacked my brother and when I tried to intervene to protect him, they assaulted me as well,” she said.
The lawyers accusing them of abusing lawyers, she said adding that Shahzad Saeed and Jalbani were among other lawyers who attacked them.
In a video statement, the PTI leader claimed that she even fainted after the physical assault. She demanded Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed cancel licenses of all the lawyers who were involved in the incident.
On November 19, a man had killed his maternal uncle and aunt for turning down his marriage proposal for their daughter in Sargodha.
Because of the dispute over domestic issues with his family, the victim Riaz had refused the marriage proposal of his nephew Adeel. Following which, the suspect armed with a weapon had entered his house and started quarrelling.

Younger brother of Riaz, Mukhtar, who had arrived a day ago from abroad, and wife of Riaz’s elder brother Rubina had tried to protect the victims, but Adeel opened indiscriminate fire leaving Riaz and his wife dead.
The dead bodies were shifted to hospital for post-mortem. While, Jhaal Chakian police launched an operation and arrested Adeel.
