LAHORE: After surfacing of a video, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) on Sunday alleged the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) of buying votes in NA-133 by-elections.

A video is doing rounds on social media which shows that some people wearing masks are sitting at an office and bundles of money are kept before them, from which they are giving money, after taking oath, to people. The ones receiving the money are also wearing masks to hide their identities. Behind them posters of PML-N candidate of the constituency NA-133 are visible on walls.

Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said the Election Commission of Pakistan should take notice of the incident and hold investigation into it. “What value does the election have after surfacing of this video,” he wondered.

Sharing the video, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill said it showed what importance did the democracy and sanctity of vote held for the PML-N. “This is a shameless group that cannot leave cheating,” he said.

“The ECP will have to take action on the way PML-N is openly buying votes in NA-133. If the ECP delays taking action on it, the neutrality of the ECP is likely to be severely affected,” he said adding that the PTI demanded that the PML-N candidate be disqualified and severely punished for buying votes.
