As per previous reports, the new chip is codenamed sm8450. There are also rumours that the new chip might be called Snapdragon 898. However, this is not the case.

As the famous Chinese tech blogger, Digital Chat Station (@DCS) claims that Qualcomm will be using a new naming system for its upcoming flagship processors. Instead of sd8450, the company will call it “Snapdragon 8 gen1”.

Here gen1 means Generation 1. If the reports are correct, then Qualcomm will abandon the old naming methods.

Also, a famous leakster, IceUniverse (@iceuniverse) said that Snapdragon competitor MediaTek will be launching its flagship processor Dimensity 2000 as Dimensity 9000.
