LAHORE: A group of robbers on Sunday snatched cash and valuable items worth Rs34 million from a family in Johar Town area of Lahore.

Police said owner of the house has been identified as Dr Naseem. An FIR has been lodged against the robbers at Johar Town police station.

The FIR mentioned that 10 million cash, jewellery worth Rs19.6 million, four diamond rings and expensive wrist watches were looted from the family members.

The armed robbers also subjected the family members to brutal torture, the FIR read. Police have launched a hunt for the suspects.

On November 19, one alleged robber was killed and another arrested during an encounter with police near Defence Central Library in DHA Phase-II area in Karachi.

Defence police station officials had said when they signaled the suspects to stop at Punjab Chowrangi, they fled. The suspects opened fire on police officials, when they followed them, they had said. Police had said when they opened fire in response to the robbers’ attack, one was killed and another got arrested.

Police had recovered weapons and motorcycle from their possession.

The dead suspect, identified as Abdul Rehman, was shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities. The arrested suspect has been identified as Muhammed Aali.
