KARACHI: The local administration on Sunday imposed Section 144 around Nasla Tower as demolition work on the building continues on order of the Supreme Court.

The Section 144 bans gathering of more than four people in the vicinity of the building, a notification in this regard was issued by Commissioner Karachi Muhammed Iqbal Memon. The notification also bars people to cross the barriers around the tower.

“There was an apprehension that law and order situation may occur, and some people would cross the barrier and expose themselves to danger,” read the notification apprising reason behind imposition of the Section 144.

The restriction would be applicable till completion of the demolition work.

The deputy commissioner district East and assistant commissioner Ferozabad are authorised to take action against the violators in coordination with the concerned senior superintendent of police.

Huge contingent of law enforcers has been deployed at the Nasla Tower.

Police and rangers personnel have been posted around as no irrelevant person is being allowed to go near the Nasla Tower. All the ways leading to the building have been sealed. Women police officials are also posted to avert any untoward incident.

The road connecting Shahra e Faisal to Shahra e Quaideen has been closed for traffic. Service road of Shahra e Quaideen has also been closed with the help of barbed wires.
