KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers on Wednesday arrested seven suspects involved in drug trafficking and supply in an operation in Karachi’s Orangi Town.

Sindh Rangers spokesman said that 83kg of high-quality hashish was also recovered from the suspects. The suspects have been identified as Nadeem Khan alias Lala, the ringleader of the group who used to bring drugs from the Sohrab Goth area in his rickshaw.

The spokesman said that Nadeem used to supply drugs to small drug dealers through his other agents.

Apart from Nadeem the rangers also arrested Akbar Ali, Wasim Syed, Muhammad Ali, Umar Farooq, Shereenzada and Muhammad Wali. At least 83kg of hashish, rickshaw and three motorcycles were also seized from suspects, said the spokesman.

Similarly, Steel Town police arrested a three-member gang of dacoits near Link Road while acting on a tip-off.

Police said that illegal weapons and three stolen motorcycles were also seized from the suspects.

The law enforcement agency said that the suspects were involved in dozens of motorcycle lifting and street crimes. Motorcycles recovered from the accused were stolen from Bin Qasim and Sikhan police stations, the police added.

A case has been registered against the suspects Somar, Hassan and Sultan. The weapons recovered from the suspects are also being sent for forensics.

In another case, District East Police arrested a suspected drug dealer and recovered weapons and drugs from his possession.

The police said that the suspect was involved in various incidents including the murders of police sub-inspector and Sindh University professor Dr Zainul Abidin.

In another case, Site Super Highway Police arrested accused Sanaullah Brohi son of Muhammad Sharif and recovered more than four kilogrammes of marijuana, a Kalashnikov, 30 bore pistol with 08 rounds.

The police said that the suspect was being interrogated.
