LAHORE: Following the rotation policy of the Federal Government, Punjab government has relieved as many as six senior police officers and their services have been handed over to Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) respectively.

According to a notification of the Services & General Administration Department Punjab, Additional Inspector General of Police, Special Branch Punjab, Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Multan, Syed Khurram Ali, RPO Sheikhupura Inam Waheed Khan and DIG Muhammad Zubair Dreshak and DIG Traffic Punjab, Lahore Sohail Akhtar have been relieved and their services have been handed over to Sindh for further posting.

It may be relevant to mention here that Punjab CM was resisting implementation of the rotation policy to the extent that some police officers were asked to continue their respective services until finding better replacements. As per media reports, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had requested the Prime Minister to look into the matter but the premier turned down the request on the grounds that the rotation policy will be implemented in letter and spirit across the country.
