Smog of incompetency, corruption, inflation has engulfed the country: Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President and Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said the smog of incompetency, inefficiency, corruption and inflation had engulfed the entire country for the last three years.

“The people standing in queues are remembering former prime minister Nawaz Sharif with grief,” Shehbaz Sharif said in a statement referring to the long queues at PSO petrol pumps all over the country because of strike announced by private petrol pump owners.

He said his heart was bleeding to see people standing in queues for petrol, wheat flour, sugar and other necessary items. He said Rashan Card, queues, inflation, U-turn and lies were the symptoms of the ‘Naya Pakistan.

The PML-N president said gas crisis in the country was because of maladministration and corruption of “Imran Niazi”.

“Gas has become expensive and extinct. On the occasion of new year, a bomb of 400 per cent increase in gas prices is going to be dropped. Domestic and commercial consumers will get gas by paying hundreds of rupees extra from January 1. The preparation of increasing per mmbtu price from Rs1,400 to Rs1,700 amounts to slaughtering the nation,” he said.

Shehbaz said the dollar was being sold at more than Rs177, a new all-time high price.

“The flight of the dollar continues to aggravate the nation’s pain of inflation. One per cent depreciation of the rupee increases inflation by 14 to 16 basis points,” he said.
