QUETTA: A spokesperson of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has said that loadshedding was not being carried out anywhere in Balochistan.

“There is no policy of gas loadshedding from the company,” said the spokesperson.

He said several areas faced the issue of gas pressure, which was created because of leakages in old pipelines and illegal use of compressors, Bol news channel reported.

The SSGC spokesman said all-out efforts were being made to resolve the issue of gas pressure.

On November 27, a lawyer had filed a constitutional plea in the Lahore High Court (LHC) over shortage of gas in Lahore.

Advocate Sardar Farhat Manzoor Chandio had made the federal government, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Division secretary, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority and Sui Northern Gas Company parties in the case.

“With the arrival of winter, gas has become extinct in the city. Because of the shortfall in supply of gas, people are forced to buy LPG cylinders on high rates,” he had said.

The plaintiff had said it was responsibility of the government to ensure provision of basic facilities to the citizens.
